Tunisia: New Law Regulates Status of Artists and Artistic Professions

On May 13, 2026, Tunisian President Kais Saied issued Law No. 2026-8 on Artists and Artistic Professions. The law was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Tunisia, No. 48, on May 14, after the Assembly of the Representatives of the People approved it on May 12. Most provisions of the law took effect on May 14.The law establishes a comprehensive framework governing the legal status, professional activities, contractual rights, remuneration, and social protection of artists and individuals working in artistic professions. It applies to Tunisian artists, artistic technicians, and administrative professionals, as well as foreign nationals legally residing in Tunisia. (Law No. 2026-8, arts. 1–3....
