1. Blame Canada
I have two unrelated, boring stories for you today that, taken together, are pretty important. I know this is spinach time—we’re going to talk about foreign affairs and the bond market.
But what’s taking shape is the transition of Canada from America’s closest ally to a competitor, one positioning itself as a counterweight to us.
Americans seem ignorant of this change while Canadians are focused and remarkably unified. They’re kicking our ass. And to be totally candid, I’m glad. We’re the bad guys now; we deserve it.
So here’s my promise: If you’re willing to strap in and read this thing, I’ll keep it as snappy as possible.
