Good morning, Chicago.

There's a Lincoln Park dust-up over expansion plans by private school Francis Parker, which I didn't know anything about before reading two pieces that Tribune Opinion published today.

Both assert that the school hasn't listened to community concerns with its plans to buy and bulldoze a nearby residential building for its project. There's an alternative plan neighborhood folks have put forward.

The pieces offer insight into how Chicago may be a big city, but in so many respects, it's like a small town.

The editorial board supports Ald. Marty Quinn's proposal, overwhelmingly approved on Monday by the City Council's Finance Committee, to require a three-fifths majority on future bond authorizations. Lots of updates on the city's debt load and bond plans in this piece.

And the board lauds the interim superintendent of District 65, serving K-12 schools in Evanston and a part of Skokie, for biting the bullet and proposing real cost-saving steps to put the district's poor financials on solid footing. Chicago Public Schools, take notice.
