Oak View Review
News and Notes: September 3
Our admin and a student pose in the hallway.

As we wrap up our second week at Oak View, we want to share our heartfelt appreciation for the incredible energy and dedication shown across our entire school community.  We are so proud of how quickly our students are settling in and forming strong, caring connections. Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making these first weeks such a success. We hope you and your family take time to relax, disconnect, and enjoy a wonderful, well-deserved Labor Day weekend!

Calender Reminder

Labor Day Weekend

Friday, September 4, and Monday, September 7, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. Virginia legislation requires that schools opening prior to Labor Day must be closed the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends. See the complete school year calendar.

Student ID Cards for Oak View Bus Riders

Student ID cards were distributed to school bus riders this week. ID cards should be worn or attached to your child’s backpack and brought to the bus each day.  Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus.

Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time. Please note that students new to Oak View may not have received an ID yet, even if they ride a school bus. These will be printed as soon as possible.

We ask for your patience! Bus drivers are checking in students and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

Reminder: Kiss and Ride Door 3 Only for 2026-27

As we gear up for a fantastic new school year, your children's safety and a smooth daily routine are our top priorities. We are so grateful for your incredible partnership in keeping our school grounds safe and welcoming!

To make our morning and afternoon transitions as safe and efficient as possible, Oak View has returned to our single, officially approved Kiss and Ride location at Door 3.

While the temporary second line at Door 8 helped us during a busier time, consolidating back to Door 3 is a change fully backed by Fairfax County Safety and Security, local police, and our crossing guards. This single, highly supervised zone will keep our buses running smoothly and eliminate risky traffic backups on Sideburn Road.
