Our family has some joyful moments to look forward to, like our daughter Lily’s third birthday and our annual beach trip. We’re packing and planning for said trip (we’re going back to Nantucket), and most of that has looked like borrowing various containers from friends to put the baby in (travel crib, slumberpod, beach tent, etc.) and booking dinner reservations for the one or two date nights we’ll have (I love Ventuno, if you ever go). Such are the glorious, glorious “vacations” when you’re a parent. :) This is usually our one and only big trip for the year, so I will take what I can get. ![]() Photos from last summer. Gorgeous hydrangeas are everywhere on island (left). Ventuno's not only has the best pasta but the prettiest interiors, too (right). I also had a whole style lookbook in mind, but I might just grab one more workout short (I want to try these) and call it a day. Rather than laziness, I’m going to blame it on being postpartum. *** This week, I’ve been reading two very, very different books: the last chapter in The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms novella by George R.R. Martin (George…I have some notes on how your female characters are portrayed), and The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand, a book set at a Nantucket restaurant with the most mouthwatering descriptions of food. After this, I’m feeling ready to dive back into my more literary reads on my to-read list—Meg Mason’s forthcoming book, Sophie, Standing There, is calling to me from my pile. What are you reading this week? And what are you looking forward to in these last few weeks of summer? xo, Alisha 3 Good ThingsTwo summer favorite discoveries…First, this |
