Over the course of many years, the Office of Sustainability and Environmental Management and the Climate Policy Office have collectively shared numerous sustainability-related stories to inform and educate residents. These digital communications reached your inbox from the AIRE (Energy) Newsletter, Green Events (Stormwater) Newsletter and Climate Policy Updates. This fall, all updates will be combined into one newsletter – providing residents with a full-scope bulletin spanning the many facets of sustainability. Each monthly publication will highlight energy, stormwater, sustainability and climate topics relevant to residents.

New EV Charging Signage
Beginning August 22, new electric vehicle (EV) charging signage will be installed at EV parking spaces at County locations. This signage will designate these parking spots for EVs charging only. Informational flyers will be posted about signage at each location. Learn more about charging and dwell fees.

Meet with Your Home Energy Coach
The Home Energy Coach is a resource that provides free, virtual technical support to help Arlington residents make energy upgrades. Home Energy Coaches are available to help with any type of energy upgrade, such as installing new heating and cooling equipment, improving insulation and adopting solar energy. Homeowners can meet with a Home Energy Coach individually and renters can join a group coaching session. To get started, Arlington residents can submit an interest form online and a Coach will follow up with more information. Submit your interest form today.

Today: Town Hall Meeting on the Governor’s 2026 Virginia Energy Plan

The offices of Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Carrie Chenery, Virginia's Chief Energy Officer Josephus Allmond, and the Virginia Department of Energy will host a townhall meeting to inform the development of the 2026 Virginia Energy Plan. This event is open to members of the public. Attendees will have an opportunity to share their views on energy opportunities, challenges and priorities facing their communities directly with representatives from Governor Spanberger’s Administration. The draft plan for Arlington’s transportation future is here.
Over the last two years, community feedback has helped shape Arlington’s Transportation Future, an initiative to create a refreshed transportation plan to address our community’s evolving transportation needs. Informed by three rounds of public engagement, the draft Multimodal Transportation Plan is now ready for review. Explore the draft plan, including proposed policies, strategies, transportation network guidance and curb lane priorities, and share your thoughts online or at an upcoming event. This is your last opportunity to help shape the plan before it is presented to the County Board. Share your feedback by August 23.

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 EcoAmbassadors cohort! In partnership with EcoAction Arlington and Virginia Cooperative Extension, this volunteer training program equips community members to become local environmental leaders in Arlington County and the City of Alexandria. Apply here.
