Hi Nigdyci, Rest doesn't pay the bills. Every post about slowing down, listening to your body, saying no more often... it's all true. AND most of us still have to show up and earn a living while we're doing it. I built this whole thing around burnout recovery and healing. And some weeks, I still sit down to work while running on fumes, because... well, because money has to come in. Just because my nervous system is asking for a break doesn't mean I have to stop completely. Not anymore. I did have to stop. Twice. I was lucky enough that my insurance took burnout seriously, for a while. But burnout, once you've reached "forget your name" and "physically can't get up" levels, takes a long time to get out of. After the worst part is gone. After you learn to calm your nervous system. After you sleep away days... weeks... months... You're not fully recovered. But you're recovered enough that you "have to go back to work." And honestly, you're wanting to move again too. Needing money to live doesn't mean you're doing burnout recovery wrong. It doesn't mean you haven't healed enough, or that you're "still in it" when everyone else has supposedly figured it out. You're allowed to need income and find ways to rest or calm your nervous system at the same time. You're allowed to be recovering and still show up for your life once you can. Those two things aren't in conflict, no matter what the soft-life corner of the internet says. No matter what the hustle corner says either. If this week has you doing both, resting where you can and working because you have to (or because you want to), I see you. That's just being a person with bills to pay and a life to live. P.S. Funny enough, the more you actually use the little nervous-system tools, the more capacity you have to make decisions, follow through, and show up for the money-making parts too. Regulation isn't magic, but it gives you back the bandwidth burnout took. |
