I was just thinking about what you said the other day about starting a vegetable garden. I actually tried growing tomatoes last summer and it was a lot more involved than I expected. The first few weeks I was checking on them every single day and worrying about every little yellow leaf. But once they got going it was pretty rewarding. My neighbor suggested using a bit of compost tea and that seemed to help a lot. I also learned that you are not supposed to water them from above because it can cause the leaves to mildew. Anyway I ended up with more tomatoes than I knew what to do with so I made a big batch of sauce and froze it. If you decide to try it let me know and I can share what worked for me. I am no expert but I learned a few things the hard way so you might benefit from my mistakes.

The whole process was really satisfying and I am already planning what to plant next year. Maybe some peppers and herbs too. I also want to try growing cucumbers because my friend said they are surprisingly easy if you give them enough space to climb. I am thinking about building a small trellis along the fence. I finally watched that documentary you recommended last night and it was really fascinating. I had no idea about the history behind it and the way they pieced together the archival footage was incredible. The part where they interviewed the old engineer who worked on the project was my favorite. You could tell he still had so much passion for it even after all these years. I ended up staying up way later than I planned because I could not stop watching. The cinematography was beautiful too which I was not expecting from a documentary.

I think you would enjoy the director's earlier film as well it has a similar style but focuses on a different subject. Let me know if you want to watch it together sometime.
