oh i totally get what you mean about the light in that room being tricky. we had the same issue in our living room until we switched to warmer bulbs and added a floor lamp near the corner. it made a huge difference for evening reading. also try angling the blinds differently during the day so the sunlight bounces off the wall instead of hitting the floor directly. my sister did that in her apartment and now the whole space feels softer and more inviting without any harsh shadows. let me know if you want me to send you a photo of how we set ours up. it took us a few weekends to figure out but once we did it was honestly worth the trial and error. the plants seem happier too which is always a bonus around here.

the other thing we learned is that layering light sources at different heights really helps. we have a small shelf lamp at waist level and a pendant light higher up and together they make the room feel much larger than it actually is. anyway i hope that gives you a few ideas to try out whenever you have a free afternoon to move things around. happy to chat more about it anytime.

i finally watched that documentary you mentioned last week and honestly i was blown away by the cinematography. the way they captured those wide landscape shots with the fog rolling in felt almost meditative. i paused it a few times just to look at the details in the background. you were right about the pacing being slow in the first act but i actually liked how it let the atmosphere breathe before the story picked up. it reminded me of that film we saw together two summers ago where the whole second half takes place in one room. same kind of patient storytelling. i ended up rewatching the last twenty minutes because i missed a key line of dialogue the first time around and it completely changed how i understood the ending. have you seen any other movies from that director? i might dive into their earlier work this weekend if i can find where they are streaming. also thanks for the recommendation it was exactly the kind of thing i needed after a long week. let me know if you have another one lined up i trust your taste more than my own at this point.
