Principal's Message:

Hello Bull Run Families,

SOL's are winding down and this is when the fun really starts!  It is also when the kids (and staff) start to get a little stir crazy while they wait for summer break to begin!  Please remind your students that we want to finish the year Charger STRONG, ending the year proud of ourselves for all we've accomplished!

Last week I sent out a notice about Kiss and Ride procedures.  Please see an update below.  We've tried something new this week and it seems like it has been working well.  The strategy outlined below falls on us as a school to monitor and be consistent in our efforts; however, it also involves families to follow the directives of our staff on duty, and be safe while in line. We will be moving the line as fast as possible so please be patient and do not try to drive around any cars that are in line, in order to exit quicker.

Reminders:

Tomorrow, Friday May 15, is our second attendance incentive spirit day-- Crazy Hat or Hair Day!  Homerooms were notified at the end of the school day today if they reached the goal for the invitation to participate!

School is CLOSED until Thursday, May 28th

Have a wonderful long Memorial Day weekend, and Eid Mubarak to all who observe!

-Mr. Marotta

HIGHLIGHTS AND WHAT'S NEW AT BULL RUN

arial view of bull run school property with arrows showing traffic flow

This past week the Kiss and Ride line has been much smoother! Our new plan seems to be an improvement.  Here is a basic summary of what we have been doing, that we will continue to put in place:

Beginning at 9:00am, we are allowing students to exit their vehicles to either enter Door 6 for to get breakfast, or gather outside Door 1 until the bell rings at 9:05am (at which time, all students can enter the building).

Please look at the map above for descriptions:

Black Arrows (Entry): These indicate the primary entrance route. Traffic that is heading west, loops through the next U-turn area and then make a right into the parking lot of the school.

  • Door 6 / STOP Sign: The black path leads directly to a point labeled "DOOR 6," marked with a Stop Sign icon. This is where a staff member will stop the line, until vehicles in the unloading zone have cleared out, and will release the next set of cars to fill that area.

  • Green Section (Unloading Zone): After passing the Door 6 stop, vehicles will fill the area of the curb closest to the main entrance of the building.  Please drive as far up as you can on this curb to allow for as many vehicles as possible. We will be unloading all students from all vehicles in this section.

  • Blue Arrow (Exit): Once unloading is complete, the blue arrow indicates the exit path, leading vehicles back toward the main road away from the building.  Vehicles should yield the right of way to FCPS busses.

As we begin planning for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year, one important part of the process is creating balanced and supportive classroom communities where all students can thrive. While final placement decisions are made by our school team with thoughtful consideration, we value your insight and welcome any input you’d like to share regarding your child’s learning needs.

If you have specific information that you feel would help us in making the most appropriate class placement for your child — such as learning style, social-emotional needs, or past experiences — please submit that feedback using the form linked below by tomorrow May 22nd.  The form will be closed after that date.

Finish the School Year #ChargerSTRONG!

We are heading into the Final 4 (there are four full weeks of school, with a smaller week in between) — and we want every student to count! To celebrate Bull Run Elementary and keep our attendance soaring, we’re launching a special spirit challenge.

The Weekly Challenge:

If your student's class reaches at least 95% attendance for the week, they get to participate in a fun Spirit Day at the end of each week!

Mark your calendars for these themes:

  • May 15: Pajama and Stuffed Animal Day! (COMPLETED)

  • May 22: Crazy Hair or Hat Day!

  • June 5: Mismatch / Backwards Clothing Day!

  • June 11: Sunglasses at School Day!

The Grand Prize:

We’ve saved the best for last. If the entire school maintains a 95% attendance rate throughout these four weeks, we get to tape Mr. Marotta to the wall! Let’s show up, have some fun, and see if we can get the Principal stuck!
