The 8th Grade Class will have an end of year celebration during school on Tuesday, June 16 from 11:45am – 1:45pm. To make this an AMAZING day for our students, please take a moment to check out this Signup Genius to find a way you can help.
We are seeking donations of ice, water, snacks, and volunteers.
We’re also planning a special raffle to honor our amazing 8th grade students—and we need your help! Please consider donating a gift card ($5 to $20) to make this celebration extra memorable.

THANK YOU to all of the parents who have stepped up to fill vacancies within the PTA for the 2026-2027 school year. We are still looking for volunteers to fill the following positions:
- Secretary – Serve on the board drafting agendas and collecting minutes.
- Crosstown Hoops – Help bring this annual event to life, coordinating with administration on the event logistics
- Spirit Wear -- coordinate with vendors to design and sell Thoreau spirit wear throughout the year.
- 7th Grade Dinner (1-3 people) – Plan and coordinate event
- Fundraising and Membership – Develop fundraising ideas and coordinate programs
We're always happy to have more hands. If there's a way you'd like to help out that does not fit in these roles, let us know!
Questions or to volunteer reach out to PTA President Adam Strawn .
Thank you to everyone who made Teacher Appreciation Week such a fun way to celebrate our teachers and staff!

Donate to Support Your Students!
We would appreciate a one-time donation of $50 per family, but are thrilled to receive any and all contributions. Donations are tax-deductible, and 100% of your contribution goes directly back to supporting our Thoreau Middle School students and staff. Your donations will help the PTA support our community throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Among other things, our Thoreau PTA:
- Organizes appreciation events for our teachers and staff regularly, such as pies at Thanksgiving and cookies before Winter Break
- Coordinates special events such as the 7th Grade Fall Social and 8th Grade End of Year Party
- Grants financial support to teachers and staff for classroom or program needs
