| Dear Carolyn: Money is becoming a problem in a lot of my close relationships. I had a very successful starter career for the 20 years right after college, then took a buyout in 2024. I am still working, but my income does not support me, it's just nice to have. I am set through retirement, and I don't have children. I don't boast about my money or spend it on things I don't need. I live in a modest condo, on which I have spent some money decorating, but my style is minimalistic so that would not be obvious to most. I am not weird about it, so why does everyone around me insist on being weird about money? Trying to make plans with friends has become a minefield of pocket-watching and snarky comments… |
