Flint Hill Updates

Good Afternoon Flint Hill Families,

Last Sunday we enjoyed a lovely Fun Run on the FHES track. Students in K-1, 2-3 and 4-6 took turns walking and running around the track and enjoyed a friendly competition. Falco even made a surprise appearance and raced the principal around the track!

On Wednesday, band/string/chorus students performed for their classmates during a school assembly and prepared for their evening concert. Bravo and congratulations to all of our 4th, 5th and 6th graders who took part in performing arts at FHES this year!

Registration for band, strings and chorus is now open! Rising 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are eligible to register for strings. Rising 5th and 6th grade students are eligible to register for band, string and chorus. Registration is due by June 5th!

The FHES Art Show is tomorrow (Thursday, May 21st)! Be sure to come out to FHES from 5:30 - 7:30 pm to enjoy displays of student art, interactive art projects, music, snacks and more! Last minute volunteer opportunities are still available. See below.

Last chance! The class placement input form is open until May 22nd. Please use this opportunity to share information that will help us in the process of building new classes for the 26-27 school year. While we cannot accept requests for specific teachers or friends, your input regarding strengths, needs and other circumstances is helpful.

Kindly,

Mr. Montaquila, Principal

Mr. Baker, Assistant Principal

Class Placement Input Opportunity (Due by May 22nd)

summer school

To help us prepare for the upcoming school year, we are seeking parent/family input to build class lists for the 26-27 school year. Please take a moment to complete the optional input form below.

Sharing input about your students' areas of strength, need and interest will help our staff build balanced, effective classes that meet student needs. Also, sharing other circumstances that may be unique to your student can also be considered.

Please do not share requests for specific teachers and placement with specific students. In building class lists for over 600 students, it is not possible to meet all requests. Feedback that includes requests for specific teachers will not be included in our review.

1.) Please describe your child's strengths and areas of need.

2.) Are there any extenuating circumstances or factors that may influence our decision regarding placement for the 2026-2027 school year?

Please provide all input through the link below (Deadline: May 22nd). Emailed comments will not be considered.

Rising 5th & 6th Grade Chorus Registration

Chorus

We would like rising 5th and 6th grase students to invite you to join the Flint Hill Chorus. Our Chorus will meet during the school day every week. There is no cost to join. During our rehearsal time each week we will work on developing our listening and singing skills, singing a variety of music, and promoting teamwork through the choral arts. Students may be in chorus and band or strings.

While students do not audition to be in chorus, we will expect all members to attend rehearsals regularly and participate respectfully. Being a member of the Flint Hill Chorus will be a year-long commitment. Chorus will begin in the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.

We will have opportunities to perform! Stay tuned for more information. For sixth graders, being a member of the Flint Hill Chorus is a prerequisite for auditioning for the FCPS 6th Grade All-County Chorus. To join Chorus please fill out the form online.
