No School for the following dates: May 25th, 26th and 27th

All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, for the Memorial Day holiday.

Tuesday, May 26, is a teacher work day. There is no school for students. See the complete school year calendar.

Wednesday, May 27, is a holiday for Eid al-Adha, the “Feast of Sacrifice”, the second of two main holidays celebrated in Islam. It honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The holiday is marked by prayers, charitable giving, family gatherings, and shared meals with loved ones and those in need.

Out of This World Spirit Week

Spirit Week continues! Students and staff will celebrate with a fun “Out of This World” theme and special dress-up days throughout the week. Participation is completely optional, and everyone is encouraged to join in however they feel comfortable.

The remaining Spirit Week dress-up days include:

  • Thursday, May 21 – Key Center Spirit Wear DayShow your school pride by wearing Key Center gear or school colors.
  • Friday, May 22 – “Dress to Impress”Wear fancy clothes or your favorite special outfit.

We look forward to a week full of school spirit, creativity, and fun memories for our students, staff, and families.


Bus Pass

Student Bus Passes Offer Free Transportation

All Fairfax County middle and high school students can get a Student Bus Pass SmarTrip card to ride the Fairfax Connector and Fairfax CUE buses for free! With the pass, fares are free from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, all year. Learn more about the Student Pass and access the application, which can be returned to the front office.

Bus Discount Program for Adults

Fairfax Connector’s Transit Ridership Incentive Program (TRIP) provides 50% off fares for low-income residents ages 18-65. Learn more about the TRIP program and how to apply.


SR&R Changes for the 2026-27 School Year

Visit the FCPS website or the School Board agenda to learn about additional updates, including:

  • Added guidance and procedures for in-school and out-of-school suspensions and discipline investigations, including supports for students with disabilities and multilingual learners. 
  • Expanded guidance and standardized disciplinary procedures (“Universal Grade Matrices”) related to harassment, hate speech, discriminatory behavior, and Title IX reporting requirements.
  • Responses to incidents involving intimate images, fighting, physical aggression, object throwing, and drug policy violations.

ABA Family Training - Maintaining Routines Outside of School

This training covers the benefits of maintaining routines at home and how to maintain structure after school ends.

This workshop is intended for parents of students with Autism served in preschool autism   classrooms (PAC), Enhanced Autism Classrooms (EAC) and CAT B secondary classrooms. Topics covered will include: 

  • The benefits of keeping a home routine 
  • Way to maintain structure outside of school

Metro Comes to The Arc of Northern Virginia

Representatives from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will be on site to assist with the Reduced Fare Program and MetroAccess Door to Door. Applications required.

Sibshops/SibTeen Summer Camp

Date - Monday, June 22 and Tuesday, June 23
Time: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location - Fairfax Villa Elementary  
10900 Santa Clara Dr. Fairfax, VA

Sibshops and SibTeen will hold a two-day summer camp for children who have a sibling with a disability.  Each day participants will participate in a variety of fun recreation and art based community building activities and discussion related to their shared experience and access peer support. Lunch will be provided each day.

Sibshops is open to children in grades 2nd through 5th. SibTeen is offered to children in grades 6 through 9.

Changes to SNAP and Medicaid Benefits
Fairfax County’s Department of Family Services has posted information about upcoming changes to SNAP (food assistance) and Medicaid benefits. This informational resource explains updates to work requirements, eligibility rules, and documentation families may need to provide, along with links to apply for benefits or get help in multiple languages.

Families who receive SNAP or Medicaid, or who think they may qualify, are encouraged to review the information and contact the county for support if they have questions about how these changes may affect their household.

Therapeutic Recreation Adapted Summer Camps
Therapeutic recreation adapted summer camps are designed for individuals with disabilities, ages 6 - 21. Recommended for campers who benefit from close supervision and moderate to maximum support with personal care, recreation participation, and/or social skills.
