Google has unveiled an overhaul to its search engine, introducing an AI-powered "intelligent search box" that, rather than displaying a list of links, will offer interactive experiences, information agents and personalized mini apps. At its Google I/O conference, the company also announced shopping powered by Gemini AI, introducing tools like Universal Cart, Universal Commerce Protocol and Agent Payments Protocol. The tools enable Gemini to act as an active shopping assistant, tracking prices, monitoring deals, managing carts across retailers and even making purchases on users' behalf.
