Dr. Christine Ritter

A Message from Principal Ritter

Dear Kings Glen Families,

We are coming closer to the finish line of our spring Standards of Learning (SOL) testing window! I am incredibly proud of our students for the amazing effort, focus, and stamina they displayed over the past couple of weeks.

SOL Testing weeks can naturally disrupt the normal flow of the school day, yet our Gators handled every challenge with remarkable maturity.  I want to celebrate our students for:

  • Their Incredible Effort: Our students took their time, utilized their strategies, and truly put forth their absolute best on every assessment.
  • Their Flexibility: From shifted lunch and specials schedules to modified instructional blocks, our students adapted to temporary changes in their daily routines beautifully.
  • Their Respect for Others: Perhaps most impressively, our students showed immense care for their peers by remaining quiet in the hallways and classrooms, ensuring a peaceful, distraction-free environment for those who were still working.

An enormous thank you goes out to our phenomenal staff for their meticulous planning and encouragement, and to you, our families, for partnering with us to ensure our students came to school well-rested, fed, and ready to succeed.

Once testing is behind us, we are excited to pivot our focus to a fantastic, fun-filled final stretch of the school year. Thank you for your continued support of our amazing students!

Please keep in mind that there is a processing window of several days between the test date and the score appearing in the portal. For example:

  • Tests taken on Friday, Monday, Tuesday will typically be viewable by Friday.
  • Tests taken on Wednesday, Thursday will likely be available the following Wednesday.

Log in to your ParentVUE account to stay updated on your student’s progress. Visit the FCPS SOL Test Result website for more information.

Positivity Project

Positivity Project at Kings Glen

Kings Glen is partnering with The Positivity Project (P2) to empower students to build positive relationships and become their best selves. During our classroom Morning Meetings, short videos, class discussions and activities focus on one of the 24 character strengths that are the foundation of Positive Psychology. Gators explore their strengths and how to have positive relationships. P2 also offers short lessons for families at home.

Our Lost and Found is overflowing with jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and other items. Please encourage your child to check for any missing belongings as soon as possible. Families are also welcome to stop by and look through the collection when you are in the building for concert season and end of the year celebrations. Any unclaimed items will be donated. Thank you for helping us reunite these items with their owners before then!

Finish the School Year With Strong Attendance!

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, Fairfax County Public Schools appreciates your continued partnership in supporting your child’s success. Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintain connections with their teachers and peers, and finish the school year strong.

Attending school consistently also helps students build valuable habits such as responsibility, perseverance, and daily routines that support success both in and out of the classroom.

If your child needs to miss school, please remember to report the absence. Full-day absences can be reported in ParentVUE. Families may also report absences by calling the school attendance line or emailing the school-designated attendance address.

If your child is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, we are here to help. Please contact your child’s school so staff can partner with you to provide support and resources. Learn more about attendance resources
