Q: How do I know my site type?
A: A list of site type definitions can be found in the glossary of the NHSC Site Reference Guide (PDF - 680 KB).
Q: If our organization has both outpatient clinics and Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) or a Rural Emergency Hospital (REH), can we apply at the same time or does the outpatient clinic have to apply first, get approved and then the hospital apply?
A: If applying for both at the same time, you must create your outpatient clinic first because your CAH/REH application will require you to select from a list of existing sites. The CAH/REH can only be approved if the outpatient clinic gets approved, but they can both be reviewed during the same cycle.
Q: Do I need to upload supporting documentation for all off-site behavioral health services?
A: No. If sites fully complete Section III of the behavioral health section, supporting documentation is not required.
Q: My site only provides home-based telehealth, can it be approved?
A: Sites that provide 100% telehealth services are ineligible.
Q: When will we know if our site is approved?
A: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The Primary Care Office (PCO) reviews your application before it is sent to the HRSA regional analyst assigned to your state. You may be asked to make revisions by your PCO or your HRSA regional analyst. Failure to respond to these requests in My BHW will result in a denial. You will receive an email regarding the final decision usually within 60-90 days (or longer if revisions are needed or based on volume of applications received).
