Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is May 4-8!

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

Our teachers and staff at Parklawn share their hearts and go above and beyond every day for our students and families. The week of May 4- May 8 is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! This is a great time to think of special ways to say thank you to our amazing Parklawn staff!

Join in on our Superhero Spirit Day! Students and staff are invited to dress up like superheroes! (Please remember no masks or toy weapons permitted)

Message from the PTA

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is here and we're excited to celebrate our incredible superhero teachers and staff who go above and beyond every single day! The PTA could really use your help to make this week extra special.

The PTA and our amazing administrative team has planned a fun, superhero-themed spirit week to help students show their gratitude in simple but meaningful ways:

Monday - "Power of Kindness" Bring or draw a picture of a flower to give your teacher. Students can add a short "You help me grow by..." message on their picture.

Tuesday - "Super Strength Smiles" Give a high-five or superhero fist bump to all the teachers and staff you see.

Wednesday - "Words Are Your Superpower" Write adjectives describing your teacher to create a "Superhero Profile" (Teacher Name, Superpowers, Secret Identity, Favorite Things)

Thursday - "Hero Moments" Draw a picture of you and your teacher in class. Add a speech bubble with something your teacher often says.

Friday - "Gratitude Saves the Day" + Superhero Dress Up Day Write a thank you note for a teacher or staff member who has helped you. Also be a "helper hero" by doing something kind in the classroom (clean up, help a classmate, etc.) in honor of your teacher.

Students and staff are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superheroes or create their own superhero look! Capes, t-shirts, and school-appropriate costumes are all welcome—let’s end the week by celebrating the superheroes in our building in style!

In addition, families have the option to “fuel our superheroes” by contributing a monetary donation using this link (Givebacks) for lunch during the week.  This is a great way to show appreciation and help us treat our staff to something special!

In last week’s Panther Press, we shared that we will be holding elections for the President, Vice President and Treasurer positions at the PTA meeting in May. The Vice President helps to plan events for the school community during the year. The Vice President also works with the President and Treasurer to submit required documents and forms to the Virginia State PTA and National PTA. If you are a member of the PTA and are interested in learning more about or running for any of the open positions, please email current president, Rayne Yates, at parklawnpta@gmail.com.
