Researchers linked these skills to executive function, which underpins Planning and Multitasking. 

Interestingly, high executive function appears largely genetic, suggesting that people with strong cognitive skills may self‑select into cities. On the other hand, city living also fosters a lot of cognitive stimulation, exposing residents to richer challenges in day-to-day living, as well as competition in schools and the job market. That is to say, perhaps the environment also contributes to these differences.
