Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett argued last week that preserving the Constitution depends not only on the courts but also on American citizens, urging them to maintain a culture of respect for the rule of law. “Respect for the law, reverence for the Constitution, really begins with American citizens. It’s really more of a trickle up than a trickle down,” said Barrett during a lecture on March 12 to a packed audience in the Coolidge Auditorium.

The proposals on this list are NOT YET APPROVED and are not yet available for use in current cataloging. 

 

Thislistcontainsproposals for new or revised subject headings related to Indigenous people.This is the first of many listsfortheIndigenous HeadingsProject.Because of the scope of theproject, updates to headings willoccurin multiple phases, and many headings will appear on multiple lists.Each phase of the project will entail specific goals for updating headings, such aschangingbroader terms.Due to the iterative nature of the project, each heading on a list may not receive afull assessment.
