Alexandria Man Arrested in Unprovoked Attack on Officers in Clarendon

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department’s Patrol Section is announcing the arrest of a suspect who assaulted officers during an unprovoked attack in the Clarendon area in the early morning hours of Friday, March 20. Quinton Berry, 26, of Alexandria, VA was arrested and charged with Assault on Police (x2), Obstruction of Justice (x2), Attempt to Disarm an Officer and Vehicle Tampering. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.

At approximately 3:07 a.m., two officers were inside their marked police vehicle stopped at the traffic light on Wilson Boulevard at N. Irving Street when the male suspect, who was bloody and agitated, approached, opened the driver’s side door and began assaulting the officer before running away. The officer in the passenger seat then exited the vehicle and initiated a foot pursuit of the suspect. In the area of N. Irving Street and 12th Street N., the suspect ran towards the officer, knocking him to the ground and a struggle ensued, during which the suspect attempted to take control of the officer’s taser. With the assistance of additional arriving officers, the suspect was taken into custody. Both officers sustained minor injuries and were assessed by medics on scene.
