Dranesville Loves to Read Day

Drake Reading

We are looking forward to welcoming guest readers into our classrooms on Friday, February 13th for our fifth annual Dranesville Loves to Read Day. How sweet it is to have our families share their love of reading with our students. Please message your child's teacher to arrange a time to visit as a guest reader. Thank you for sharing your time with us!

Gabriella Alderman, author of Squawk of Spanish, will be visiting our students in Kindergarten through Second grade. Families have the option of purchasing a copy of Squawk of Spanish for their child online through Scrawl Books. Ms. Alderman will have the copies signed and personalized.

Squawk

Dranesville Dragons were challenged to read six or seven books before winter break. What began as a reading challenge has inspired students to read a wide genre of books for a variety of purposes. We are particularly looking forward to Dranesville Loves to Read day this year, because so many students have truly started to love reading. Since beginning our reading challenge, Dranesville Dragons have logged almost 2,500 books. Our goal as a school was to reach 3,000 books. Do you think we'll reach our reading goal before Dranesville Loves to Read Day?
