Autumn Durald Arkapaw is a foodie. If she’d known that culinary school existed when she was young, she might have a James Beard Award by now—or at least a stint on Top Chef. Instead, Arkapaw became a cinematographer. She sees parallels between the two career paths: Both are “very technical, as far as what you need to learn, and then there’s a creative side to it, execution-wise. And long hours, high pressure,” she tells VF’s Rebecca Ford over a spread of cheese, some delicious croquettes, and olives at an LA restaurant.
