Hi ala,
I just got back from Chicago and I think my toes are still pruney. After a successful Speaker Friends Live event, we walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner. We started walking in a sprinkle that shifted moods and became a downpour, soaking several of us on the way. However, there was no dampening the spirits of our crew!
The Speaker Friends Live events are designed to help speakers get all-important video and pictures so event organizers can see them in action.
It's a Catch-22. You need video to get onstage and you can't get video without being onstage.
Speaker Friends to the rescue. A primarily crowdsourcing option works out quite well! We collected hundreds of videos and pictures from the attendees.
Even my admittedly not-so-great photography skills come into play. Pictures can be cropped, reframed, color corrected, photoshopped or otherwise optimized. Frames can be captured from videos and turned into still pictures. We can do voice overs of the still pictures (and the videos.)
Our speakers covered a wide variety of topics and showed off an impressive array of presenter stills. Even with short talks, there were important messages shared, and we learned from each other. Authenticity was the word of the day as was having fun in front of an audience.
But the biggest takeaway from the day (aside from don't trust Chicago weather) was that we are a community through and through. There was unadulterated joy in seeing each other in person, cheering each other on and celebrating each other's successes.
