Dear aaa,
Sometimes progress is quiet – and sometimes it rises into a powerful shift that cannot be ignored. June has been one of those defining points, as months of dedication have culminated in meaningful impact for animals.
In this edition, we share two important breakthroughs you helped make possible, along with urgent stories where your voice is still needed to drive change.

Big thank you from strays in Kosovo
|
In May, we asked for your support to help dogs living at the Podujeva landfill. Abandoned and left to survive in harsh conditions, the animals roamed unchecked – injuries untreated, suffering increasing, and new litters born into the same cycle.
Thanks to your support, help arrived exactly when it was needed most.
Together with a local veterinary partner, DVM Albatrit, our team spent 10 days providing sterilisation, treating wounds, and delivering life-saving interventions to animals who had long been overlooked. |

|
|
As a result of the mission:
-
103 dogs and 2 cats were sterilised and vaccinated
-
15 puppies were vaccinated and dewormed
-
1 injured kitten received lifesaving treatment
-
3 puppies were adopted

| Thank you for helping turn a place of despair into a place of hope. |

We are devastated by recent reports that around 4,000 sheep and goats died when a livestock vessel in the Middle East was attacked, caught fire, and ultimately capsized. Confined, terrified, and helpless, the animals perished as the ship burned and sank beneath them, enduring unimaginable suffering in their final moments.
This tragedy is yet another stark reminder of the dangers of live animal transport by sea. At any moment, everything can go wrong – fires, mechanical failures, sinking ships, or even escalations in conflict zones – leaving animals to pay the ultimate price.
We are campaigning to put an end to live animal transport – join us! |
Half a million voices against live lamb cutting
|
The message is clear: live lamb cutting must end. More than 500,000 people have signed a FOUR PAWS petition, sending a powerful signal that this cruelty is not acceptable.
Together, we are calling on the Australian government to end live lamb cutting by 2030.
We have delivered the petition to Australian embassies and consulates across major cities in Europe and the United States, demanding change. To amplify the message, coordinated demonstrations have taken place in Berlin, Bern, The Hague, London, Sofia, Washington, D.C., and Vienna, culminating in a powerful parliamentary event in Melbourne.
Thank you to everyone who signed and shared the petition. Your support is putting real pressure on decision-makers and giving lambs a voice. |
Appalling conditions in Romanian shelters exposed
|
An undercover investigation commissioned by FOUR PAWS has revealed shocking conditions inside Romanian public dog shelters. Dogs were found eating their own faeces, left without access to unfrozen water during winter, and suffering from untreated wounds.
In an overcrowded environment, dogs are driven to desperation – often attacking one another, sometimes with fatal consequences. Beyond these violent incidents, countless animals die simply due to neglect.
This level of suffering cannot continue. We are calling on the Romanian government to implement a nationwide CNVR (Catch–Neuter–Vaccinate–Return) programme, proven to reduce stray populations in a humane way. |
