Yeah I totally agree with you — we ended up going with the lake trail instead and it was beautiful. The water was so clear and the kids loved skipping stones. We packed way too much food as usual but better safe than sorry. I think we saw a deer around the bend but it was gone before I could point it out. The weather held up perfectly too which was a relief since the forecast looked iffy all week. Next time we should bring binoculars for sure. Also worth noting that the parking lot fills up fast so we had to park a quarter mile down the road. Not a big deal though because the walk in was scenic. I'd recommend starting early if you go. The map we used was from the ranger station and it was really accurate. We stopped at the little general store on the way back and grabbed sodas and ice cream. The guy working there was super friendly and gave us a discount because we bought a bunch. Overall it was a great day and we are already planning the next one. I'll send you the photos once I sort through them. Let me know if you want the trail name for your trip.
The drive up was smooth except for that one construction zone near the bridge but we only lost about ten minutes. We listened to that podcast you mentioned and it was really engaging. My favorite part was the interview with the marine biologist. We also tried a new coffee shop on the corner of Elm and 5th and the cold brew was excellent. They roast their own beans in house. You can smell it from the sidewalk. We grabbed a bag to take home and it made the whole kitchen smell amazing. I think we are getting spoiled with good coffee options around here. The barista recommended a lavender latte but I stuck with my usual oat milk cappuccino. Maybe next time I will branch out. We also picked up some fresh bread from the bakery next door. It was still warm when we bought it. We ate half of it in the car on the way home. No regrets. It had a nice crispy crust and soft inside.

Hey just saw your message about the book club meeting. I finished the novel last night and I have a lot of thoughts. The pacing in the middle section felt a bit slow to me but the ending really pulled it together. I think the author did a great job with the character development especially the supporting cast. I highlighted a few passages that I want to discuss. The theme of belonging really resonated with me. I also noticed some symbolism around the garden that I think ties into the main arc. Let me know if you want me to bring my copy with the notes. I can also send you a link to the interview the author did last month on public radio. It gave a lot of context about the research that went into the setting. The description of the coastal town was apparently based on a real place she visited during a residency. I thought that was interesting because the details felt so vivid. Anyway I am looking forward to hearing everyones perspective. Do we need to bring snacks or is someone covering that this time? I can grab some fruit or maybe a cheese board if needed. Just let me know. Also I finished that documentary series you recommended and I have thoughts on that too but we can save that for another time. FnUaSMDgg6kbC I think you will really enjoy what happens in the last episode. It took a turn I did not see coming at all. The cinematography was incredible throughout.
