oh i completely forgot to tell you about that documentary i watched last night. it was about the roman empire but not the typical stuff you see on history channel. it focused specifically on their water systems and how they basically invented modern plumbing. i know it sounds boring but it was actually really interesting how they managed to build those aqueducts with just manual labor and basic tools. the engineering behind it is just mind blowing when you think about it. anyway i only got through the first hour before i fell asleep but im going to finish it tonight. you should check it out if you are into that kind of thing. i can send you the link if you want. it is streaming on that service we both use. let me know what you think if you watch it. also are we still on for saturday i was thinking we could try that new place downtown for lunch. let me know.

so i finally tried making sourdough from scratch using that starter my neighbor gave me. it took way longer than i expected because you have to feed the starter for days before it is ready to use. the dough itself was really sticky and hard to work with and i think i may have overproofed it a bit because it didnt rise as much as the recipe said it would. but honestly the final result wasnt bad at all. it had a really nice crust and the inside was soft and chewy. my family ate almost the whole loaf in one sitting. i want to try adding some herbs and garlic next time to see how it turns out. have you ever made sourdough before if not i would suggest starting with an easier recipe first just so you dont get frustrated. let me know if you want me to save you a slice next time i bake.
