President Trump is dramatically escalating his campaign to scare our communities and silence dissent. He just created a phony “emergency” to deploy armed National Guard troops to D.C. and seized control of the local police force. This isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last. President Trump similarly deployed the National Guard in Los Angeles and he’s been warning this week that he wants to deploy troops to other cities across the country to quell protests.

The President’s actions undermine the simple, foundational American principle that the military should not be used to police civilians here at home. Congress must rein in President Trump and halt his egregious abuse of power. Tell your representatives to act now!
