LGBTQ+ older people are twice as likely to be single and live alone, and four times less likely to have children, according to the nonprofit Services and Advocacy for Gay Elders. In Alaska, where long winters and remote geography already exacerbate isolation, having a like-minded peer group is especially vital, group members said. |
