Stronger Together
Dear Clearview Families,
As the vibrant colors of May bloom around us, so too does the pride we feel in our incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive community. This month has already been filled with learning, celebrations, and end-of-year assessments.
Throughout the year, our students have shown remarkable progress in their learning, and each assessment provides a snapshot of their achievements. We've seen fantastic results across all grade levels, reflecting the commitment of our students, the support of our families, and the tireless dedication of our amazing teachers and staff.
These assessments not only highlight what our students have learned but also help us to identify opportunities for growth. The data gathered will be instrumental in informing our instruction and ensuring that every child continues to thrive academically.
As we move into the final stretch of the school year, we look forward to celebrating more achievements and creating long-lasting memories. Thank you for your ongoing partnership with us.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Stephanie Almquist Joshua Redford Rachel Charlton

Class Placement- May 20 Deadline
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we will begin creating class lists at the end of May. Our goal is to develop well-balanced, diverse classrooms that best support each student’s learning needs in a positive and inclusive environment. We value your input as a parent. If there is any information about your child that you would like us to consider during the placement process, please let us know by Tuesday, May 20. While we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers, your insights are important and appreciated. To share information, please choose one of the following options provided here.
SOL Testing Scheduling (Students in Grades 3-6)
You can find Clearview’s SOL Testing Schedule here. A good night’s rest the night before an SOL test makes a big difference. Thank you for avoiding, to the extent possible, scheduling appointments on the days/times that your child is scheduled to take an SOL test.
Please let Assistant Principal, Joshua Redford, know if you have any questions.
FCPS Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Public Hearing
The School Board will hold a public hearing on final budget adjustments on Tuesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. Sign up to speak by Monday, May 12, at 4:30 p.m.
Phase 2 Community Boundary Review Meetings
Families, staff, and community members will soon be able to explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will be accessible from the FCPS website. You are also invited to participate in the Herndon High School community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break: Monday, May 19, 6:30-8 PM at Herndon High School.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow.
Regular, on-time attendance is a key ingredient to your child’s success. Keeping in mind that students are to stay home if they have a fever (of 100.4 or above), vomiting, or diarrhea, attending school must be a top priority.
Children who show up for school regularly develop fundamental reading and math skills while building a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers.

Keeping Kids Safe Online: The Importance of Monitoring Digital Activity
Monitoring children's online activity is essential in today's digital age to ensure their safety and well-being. Enforcing age restrictions on applications and social media platforms is crucial, as these guidelines are designed to protect children from content and interactions that may not be suitable for their developmental stage. Allowing unsupervised access to such platforms can expose children to potential risks, including cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and interactions with strangers. Furthermore, excessive screen time, especially late at night, can negatively impact brain development and mental health, leading to issues such as sleep disturbances and decreased academic performance. As at home caregivers, it is important to be aware of our children's online activities, understand who they are communicating with, and guide them towards healthy digital habits. Utilizing parental control tools can assist in this endeavor by allowing us to set appropriate boundaries and monitor usage effectively. For instance, Google Family Link and Net Nanny offer features that enable parents to manage screen time, filter content, and track app usage. By staying engaged and informed, we can create a safer online environment for our children, fostering their growth and development in a healthy manner.
