Notes from the Nest
What a wonderful week it has been as we celebrated our amazing staff during Staff Appreciation Week! Each day, our dedicated team shows up with heart, energy, and commitment to support our students academically, socially, and emotionally. It has been such a joy to return that love and gratitude this week.
Thank you to all the families, our incredible PTA, and our students for the thoughtful notes, delicious treats, and generous gifts. From lunch from Potbelly’s, to the beautiful flowers and heartfelt cards, our staff have truly felt appreciated and celebrated. The personal messages from students continue to be the highlight—they mean more than you know.
Thank you for partnering with us to honor the people who make Springfield Estates such a special place to learn and grow.
With gratitude,
April Martin, Proud Principal and Kassandra Flading, Assistant Principal

On Another Note:
Dear Springfield Estates Families,
We are aware of a recent TikTok trend that challenges students to physically damage their school-issued Chromebooks. This “Chromebook Challenge” encourages students to purposefully cause their devices to short out or catch fire by jamming metal/lead into the charging or USB port or stabbing the battery. Students might think that this behavior is a harmless joke or prank, but it’s dangerous and we are asking for your help in preventing it here in FCPS.
Please speak to your students about the consequences of this TikTok challenge, which include:
- Fire, injury, and damage to FCPS property.
- Lost access to schoolwork and online resources.
- Disciplinary measures as outlined in our Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook.
Please also note that families may be responsible for the repair or replacement costs for student-issued devices that are deliberately damaged.
I appreciate your partnership in keeping our students and school safe, and I’m looking forward to a strong finish to the school year here at Springfield Estates. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
April Martin
