A Message from the Principal

Dear Ravensworth Families,

We are aware of a recent TikTok trend that challenges students to physically damage their school-issued Chromebooks. This “Chromebook Challenge” encourages students to purposefully cause their devices to short out or catch fire by jamming metal/lead into the charging or USB port or stabbing the battery. Students might think that this behavior is a harmless joke or prank, but it’s dangerous and we are asking for your help in preventing it here in FCPS.

Please speak to your students about the consequences of this TikTok challenge, which include:

  • Fire, injury, and damage to FCPS property.
  • Lost access to schoolwork and online resources.
  • Disciplinary measures as outlined in our Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook.

Please also note that families may be responsible for the repair or replacement costs for student-issued devices that are deliberately damaged.

I appreciate your partnership in keeping our students and school safe, and I’m looking forward to a strong finish to the school year here at Ravensworth. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Erika Aspuria

Principal

Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…

Kindergarten class playing

There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:

  1. Determine eligibility.
  2. Identify your local school.
  3. Gather documents.
  4. Fill out forms.
  5. Schedule an appointment.

After the appointment at the school (one parent/guardian must be present), the student will be ready for the orientation to be held on April 1st, 3:00 pm at Ravensworth Elementary School. Read more about the registration process.

Try Online Registration

Online registration for the 2025-26 school year is open. Parents/caregivers may register their new student(s) online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process

When registering, parents/caregivers will need to create or log in to an existing SIS ParentVUE account

For additional information, please contact Teresa Dunbar, our school registrar, at (703) 426-3603.

As a reminder, parents who are interested in knowing more about their child’s internet activity on an FCPS device can sign up to receive a weekly Parent Report from Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service. The report is a free service and will provide a list of the top sites the child visited that week.
