he class placement process is approached very carefully and thoroughly at Colin Powell ES and we consider the academic and social needs of each student. In order to provide the best environment for your child, we seek input from both staff and families. Please complete the Parent Input form for each of your children attending Powell next school year. This form will close on May 23, 2025. Thank you for your support in this process!
Centreville High School Wildcat Band’s 4th Annual Bandemonium! – an outdoor music festival under the stars – will take place on Friday, May 16th at 6:30PM in the school’s bus loop. The Centreville High School Winterguard, JazzCats, Percussion Ensembles, Chamber Ensembles, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will dazzle audiences with a variety of great music!
Food trucks El Jefe Wood Fired Pizza, KBBQ Box, Two Smooth Dudes, Kona Ice and Adam's Delights Ice Cream will be onsite for guests to purchase food to enjoy while the musicians entertain the crowd. From young to old, there will be something for everyone! Audience members will have the option to get their faces painted, have balloon animals made for them, get Wildcat pawprint tattoos and even dance to some swingin’ jazz tunes!
This year’s Bandemonium! theme is “A NIGHT OF TOONS” - each band will perform a selection of cartoon music! 500 folding chairs will be available for guests to sit in but guests are also encouraged to bring picnic blankets and camping chairs. In case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors into the cafeteria.
“As always, this is a free, family-friendly event that we hope will bring in many guests from the Centreville community,” says Band Director Melissa Hall. “We invite our young audience members to dress as their favorite character from Wicked (the band will play a medley of selections from the hit musical and movie, among many others songs) or their favorite cartoon character (the bands will feature music from The Simpsons and Looney Tunes.”

Attend the FCPS Summer Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Woodson High School and get a jump on summer learning and fun! At this free event, participants can engage in educational and enrichment activities designed to inspire curiosity and growth.
An FCPS Student Program Marketplace will feature student-made goods for sale. Proceeds will support the students’ programs.

Descubra Estimulantes Actividades e Ideas para el Verano Acompáñenos en nuestra FCPS Summer Extravaganza o Fiesta del Verano, el sábado 10 de mayo, de 10 a.m. a 2:30 p.m., en Woodson HS y de un salto adelante del aprendizaje y la diversión veraniega.
