 Message from Mrs. Briggs
Dear Panther Families,
What a wonderful week it has been! We had two fantastic highlights that I wanted to share with you all.
First, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in our Walk & Roll to School Day this past Wednesday! It was so energizing to see so many students, families, and staff walking, biking, and scooting their way to school. I even challenged myself by biking from my house in Reston! (It was an e-bike, but still!)
Secondly, I am thrilled to announce our Principal of the Day winner, Jacob Benedict!
Jacob did a fantastic job stepping into my shoes for the day. He helped with morning announcements, visited classrooms, and even offered some great ideas during our afternoon meeting. Thank you, Jacob, for your enthusiasm and your insightful contributions! It was a pleasure having you as Principal for the Day.
This opportunity for a student to experience the principal role firsthand is just one of the unique and exciting items we offer during our Bids for Kids Auction.
Thank you again for your continued support. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all of our wonderful moms!
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
Amy Briggs
Class Placements for 2025-2026
Our staff will be working on tentative class groupings this spring, with classroom assignments finalized in mid-August. As we make these placements, we consider many factors including individual student information, teacher input, and social relationships. Every class will have a blend of children with diverse needs, personalities, and learning interests. Due to the many factors we must consider in creating classroom placements, including the staffing of our teachers, requests for a specific teacher will not be honored.
If you have information that you believe is pertinent to your child’s placement for next year, please complete this link by Friday, May 16 for it to be taken into consideration. There is no need to complete the form if you do not have any information you would like us to consider.
If your child will NOT be attending Spring Hill ES or his/her base middle school next year, please email Ms. Kim at ykim1@fcps.edu.
Unfortunately, due to timelines, we are unable to accept survey input after May 16th. Thank you!

Here is the SOL testing schedule:

To help ensure a positive and successful testing experience for our students, we kindly ask for your support in the following ways:
-
Good Breakfast: Please ensure your child has a nutritious breakfast on testing days. There will be no snack provided during the testing sessions.

-
Good Night's Sleep: Ensuring your child gets a good night's sleep before each testing day is crucial for their focus and performance.
-

-
Headphones and Mice (If Necessary): If your child uses headphones or a mouse regularly for schoolwork or testing accommodations, please ensure they bring them to school fully functional on their respective testing days.

We appreciate your partnership in supporting your child's success during SOL testing. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions.
FCPS News
Excellence at a Crossroads: FCPS Budget Update The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has begun finalizing the budget. The current advertised budget underfunds FCPS by $150 million.
Without new revenue, such as the meals tax (adding just $2-3 to an average dining bill for a family of four), FCPS will face significant cuts.
The School Board will hold a public hearing on final budget adjustments on Tuesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. Sign up to speak by Monday, May 12, at 4:30 p.m.
