Campbell's Corner
Greetings Key Families!
This week started our SOL assessments and we are gearing up for our Science 8 and Math SOL assessments next week. This Saturday's track meet will be at Mount Vernon HS starting at 8:00am. Come out and support our track team!
We had a wonderful teacher appreciation week concluding with students being provided the opportunity to write a kind note to one or more of their teachers.
Continue to remind our students to work hard in preparation for their SOL's and to be the strong positive leaders we need to keep our school and community moving in the right direction.
Sincerely,
Drew Campbell

Summer VIP Camp
As you are aware, registrations for the 2025 VIP Summer Camps have been on hold, as this program may not be available or may be restructured. The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to adopt the budget on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Bell Schedule
We are considering changes to our bell schedule next year and would love to hear from parents and students as we consider the different options. There is a brief form available where you can review the three versions we are considering and provide optional feedback on each. The same form will be available to students next week so we can have their perspective as well. If you would like to preview these options and share any insights you have, we appreciate it and will take your feedback into consideration.

SOL Testing Schedule
SOL testing will begin on May 7th. We have made some adjustments to our testing calendar. The updated dates are:
- May 13: Science 8
- May 16: Math (all levels)
Please talk to your students about their upcoming tests, help them study and prepare, and reach out to their teachers if you have any questions about the SOL exam.
Teachers have distributed study resources, and more materials are available on Schoology, if you would like to help your student prepare for their exams. You can also help your student succeed by encouraging them to get a good night’s sleep before each testing day, eating a nutritious breakfast that morning, and putting forth their best effort on the exams. Thank you for your support at home! We are excited to see our students demonstrate all the things they’ve learned this school year.

Concerning TikTok Challenge
Dear Key MS Families,
We are aware of a recent TikTok trend that challenges students to physically damage their school-issued Chromebooks. This “Chromebook Challenge” encourages students to purposefully cause their devices to short out or catch fire by jamming metal/lead into the charging or USB port or stabbing the battery. Students might think that this behavior is a harmless joke or prank, but it’s dangerous and we are asking for your help in preventing it here in FCPS.
Please speak to your students about the consequences of this TikTok challenge, which include:
- Fire, injury, and damage to FCPS property.
- Lost access to schoolwork and online resources.
- Disciplinary measures as outlined in our Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook.
Please also note that families may be responsible for the repair or replacement costs for student-issued devices that are deliberately damaged.
I appreciate your partnership in keeping our students and school safe, and I’m looking forward to a strong finish to the school year here at Key MS. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Drew Campbell

Sinceramente
Drew Campbell
