A Message from Principal Goldstein

Sam Goldstein

Dear Fairview Families,

We had another great week of learning here at the nest. Spring testing has begun and we have more coming as we approach the end of the school year. We appreciate your support in ensuring our Falcons are present, well-rested, and ready to do their best!

This week was also Teacher Appreciation Week! I want to take a moment to thank our wonderful teachers and here at Fairview for all they do for our students.  I would also like to thank our AMAZING PTA for donating their time, energy, and goodies this week so that our staff felt appreciated.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Samantha Goldstein

Update on FCPS Boundary Review

In July 2024, the Fairfax County School Board voted to begin a review and update of the county’s school boundary policy. As part of this initiative, the Board established the Superintendent's Boundary Advisory Committee, which includes parents, caregivers, and community members from each of FCPS’ 24 high school pyramids. The committee also includes school-based and division administrators, teachers, operational staff, and other community representatives.

The committee has been actively meeting throughout 2024 and 2025 to explore ways to better align school boundaries with changing geographic and demographic needs.

Representing the Robinson Pyramid on the committee is Sunnie Salvia, a Fairview and Robinson parent with 4 children: 5th grade, 7th grade, and 10th grade.

At its most recent meeting, the committee discussed the topic of “split-feeder” elementary schools—schools that feed into more than one middle school. While Fairview is not a split-feeder school, there are current discussions regarding adjusting the Union Mill Elementary boundary that could potentially impact Fairview families.

We encourage you to visit the FCPS website to review the meeting agenda, presentation slides, and related materials - paying particular attention to the slide with proposed changes for Fairview (specifically related to the Martin’s Landing neighborhood-slide18).

If you have feedback on the proposed changes affecting Fairview, please reach out to Sunnie at fcpsboundary.robinson.2@gmail.com with your comments or concerns.

Please Note: Any proposals discussed by the Advisory Committee are not final and have not been approved or rejected by the School Board. The Advisory Committee’s work will continue through January 2026, so it is unlikely that any changes impacting Fairview  will take effect in the upcoming school year.

Teacher Appreciation Week!

3HR ER post

May 19, 2025 - 3 Hour Early Release at 12:55PM!

For the upcoming early release on Monday, May 19, your child will be dismissed using the indicated dismissal route in Pick Up Patrol. If your child stayed on April 28th for the early release, we have defaulted their plan to stay again for this early release unless you notified us otherwise (this includes students going to SACC).

We will be sending your child at 12:55 via whatever is indicated in Pick Up Patrol. If your child needs to stay until 3:55, it should be reflected in Pick Up Patrol already as we have entered it on your behalf. If you need to request a change to have your child stay until 3:55, or leave at 12:55pm, please contact FairviewESCommunications@fcps.edu. Pick Up Patrol will be locked for changes from Friday May 16th at 4:15pm until 4:15pm on Monday, May 19th.

Please make sure to update Pickup Patrol for your child's 12:55 dismissal plan in order to ensure all students are dismissed correctly and get home safely. Thank you for your cooperation.

Phase 2 Community Boundary Review Meetings

Families, staff, and community members will soon be able to explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will be accessible from the FCPS website. You are also invited to participate in another series of community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break.

Each meeting will be hybrid, meaning that you may attend in person or via Zoom. Childcare for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed. Registration links will be shared soon. Another round of community meetings will be held in the fall.

Visit FCPS’ Comprehensive Boundary Review page for more information.
