Oak View Review
News and Notes of the Week (5/9/2025)
Students as principals for the day

Oak View Families,

We had an exciting week at Oak View. Thank you to all of our families for showering our faculty with love in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. The teachers are most appreciative!

We also had some very special VIPs in the building and this time VIP stood for Very Important Principals! Principal Ryan and Principal Luke joined me in leading the school, and they did an outstanding job!

Principal Ryan and Principal Luke won this experience in the PTA raffle, and it was a joy to have them step into these roles. They brought great energy and we all learned a lot from each other. A big thank you to Principal Ryan and Principal Luke for their hard work and enthusiasm! From the smiles they carried all day it was clear they enjoyed their time at the helm!

Your Proud Principal,

Jamie

Phase 2 Community Boundary Review Meetings

Families, staff, and community members will soon be able to explore and visualize potential boundary scenarios using a customized Boundary Explorer Tool. The tool will be accessible from the FCPS website. You are also invited to participate in another series of community meetings in order to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before the start of summer break.

Each meeting will be hybrid, meaning that you may attend in person or via Zoom. Childcare for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed. Registration links will be shared soon. Another round of community meetings will be held in the fall.

Visit FCPS’ Comprehensive Boundary Review page for more information.

Students and families at the Fun Run

Your Input Matters: Share Your Thoughts on 2025-26 Class Placements!

As we look ahead to the 2025-26 school year, we want to ensure that we create the most positive and effective learning environments for all of our students here at Oak View ES. We value your insights as parents and guardians and invite you to share any information you believe would be helpful as we begin this process. Please understand that while we carefully consider all input, requests for specific teachers cannot be honored due to the many factors involved in creating balanced and successful classrooms.

Please submit your input using THIS GOOGLE FORM anytime through Monday, May 26. This timeframe affords us the time necessary to carefully review all feedback as we begin the placement process.

Thank you for your partnership and for taking the time to provide valuable information that will help us create the best possible learning experiences for our students in the 2025-26 school year.

FCPS Summer Internship Pilot Program

FCPS is proud to introduce the inaugural Summer Internship Program, a six-week, paid, in-person opportunity for a limited number of current FCPS high school students or FCPS alumni enrolled in post-secondary education.

This program is designed to provide valuable hands-on work experience, professional development, and project-based learning across various FCPS departments. Locations include Gatehouse Administration Center, Willow Oaks Administrative Center, and other FCPS central office facilities. The internship program dates are Monday, June 30 through Friday, August 8.

Interns will support the staff in their selected department with projects and participate in weekly professional development workshops on topics such as personal finance, communication skills, resume writing, and networking. Interns will shadow staff completing mission-critical projects that prepare the division for the upcoming school year.

By participating in this program, interns will gain real-world experience that directly aligns with the principles of the Closing the Achievement Gap (CAG) Framework and supports FCPS’ Strategic Plan Goal 5: Leading for Tomorrow’s Innovation, which aims to equip every student with the skills to thrive in life after high school.

The application window closes on Friday, May 16.  Full details of the program can be found on the FCPS website.

Sibshops and SibTeens Sessions

Sibshops and SibTeen sessions will be held together on June 18, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Dunn Loring Administrative Building.

The Sibshops workshops are for children in grades 2-6 enrolled in FCPS who have siblings with support needs to meet other siblings in a relaxed setting. Celebrate the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of children with special needs, share sibling experiences, and receive peer support. Play games and have fun.  You can register here

SibTeens is a community-building group for Middle School siblings of children with support needs in grades 6-9 enrolled in FCPS. We have fun activities, both recreational and art-based, as well as discussion activities. It’s a unique opportunity for students to share about their lives and support each other while normalizing their life experiences.  You can register here

Please contact FCPSSibshops@FCPS.edu for follow up questions about either program.
