The Principals' Message
Happy Friday, CES Community,
Centreville has had an eventful week. First, we're thrilled to welcome Ms. Katie Boxer as our acting assistant principal for the remainder of the school year. Ms. Boxer brings a wealth of experience, spanning over 22 years in education, including roles at NySmith School, Coates Elementary, and as a behavior and wellness resource teacher in FCPS. Holding advanced degrees from the University of Virginia, George Mason University, and Virginia Commonwealth University, along with a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis, Ms. Boxer's leadership is rooted in equity, collaboration, and empowering students. Her passion lies in cultivating inclusive environments where every student and staff member feels seen, heard, and valued.
Last Saturday, our strings students honored veterans participating in the Honor Flight at Dulles Airport. Their heartfelt performance created a special and moving welcome as the veterans arrived in D.C., a fitting tribute to their service. In addition to our regular activities, we've been busy with SOL testing this week. Next week will be the last week of testing for all students, and we'll then begin expedited retakes.
This week has also been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our incredible and impactful CES staff. Every day, their dedication shines through as they go the extra mile to ensure the success of each student. Their unwavering passion, deep commitment, exceptional support, and tireless dedication are truly unparalleled, and we are profoundly grateful for their contributions. Thank you to our wonderful PTA for helping to coordinate our Staff Appreciation week and thank you to all of the community members who donated items to make the week special!
Your Proud Principals,
Rachel, Jen, and Katie

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Now Available
Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail. For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.
