Principals' Message

Admin Team Photo

Dear Brookfield Community,

As Staff Appreciation Week comes to a close, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for our incredible staff. This week has been a wonderful opportunity to truly shower our dedicated educators and support professionals with the love and appreciation they so richly deserve.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to our phenomenal PTA for their unwavering support in making Staff Appreciation Week so special. The thoughtful treats throughout the week – from delicious cookies and a refreshing hydration station to beautiful flowers, heartfelt words of appreciation, tasty popcorn, and a delightful ice cream break – truly brightened everyone's days. Your generosity and care made this week a resounding success.

As an administrative team, we were also thrilled to present each of our staff members with a Brookfield-branded umbrella. With our exciting transition to Broncoville, we hope these umbrellas will not only keep our staff dry on these spring days but also allow them to travel in style, showcasing their Bronco pride!

In other exciting news, our 3rd through 6th-grade students are working incredibly hard as they focus on their SOL assessments. We have been so impressed by their dedication, perseverance, and effort thus far. We know they will continue to shine in the weeks to come, and we are immensely proud of each and every one of them. Please continue to offer them your encouragement and support as they prepare.

On another important note, we want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our students, staff, and families for your patience and understanding during Thursday's pre-arrival evacuation. We recognize that with ongoing renovations come unexpected changes, and the safety of our students and staff remains our absolute top priority. We were so proud of our students and staff for their calm and efficient response, which allowed us to bring everyone back into the building quickly and resume instruction. Your cooperation was truly appreciated.

Finally, as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, we kindly ask for the ongoing partnership of our families and community members during arrival and dismissal. To ensure a smooth and safe process for everyone, please remember to:

  • Proceed slowly through the Kiss and Ride line.
  • Adhere to all signage around and on school property.
  • Maintain the appropriate speed limit in our school zone.
  • Make only a right-hand turn out of the Kiss and Ride lane.
  • Comply with all directions provided by Brookfield staff members.

Your attention to these guidelines is crucial in helping us maintain a safe environment for all our students.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and mother figures in our Brookfield community!

Warmly,

Lesley Hassen, Principal

Margaret Sisler, Assistant Principal

Anthony Ramakis, Assistant Principal

Let’s transform summer learning together!

The FCPS Summer Extravaganza is an exciting event that helps families imagine all the possibilities to continue learning over the summer. This is possible by showcasing interactive and immersive activities for children and the power of collaboration across FCPS offices and community partners.

Several departments within Fairfax County Public Schools—including Transportation, the Office of Multilingual Learners (ESOL Services), the Hispanic Educators Association, Career and Transition Services, Get2Green, the Office of Intervention and Prevention Services, and Safety and Security—are collaborating to create a day filled with engaging and educational activities for all FCPS students. In addition, various student school clubs will be in attendance, showcasing their initiatives and contributions. This year, we're excited to introduce the Student Program Marketplace, a new feature where students will present and sell their handmade goods, with proceeds supporting their respective programs. This initiative is supported and led by Educate Fairfax; a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for Fairfax County Public Schools students

The Summer Extravaganza will feature:

  • Activities for children of all ages that inspire curiosity and a love of learning
  • Opportunities for adults to learn how to support student well-being and academic success
  • A special section of student-led activities

We invite you to attend and engage with our FCPS community.

Event Details Date: Saturday, May 10 Time: 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Location: Woodson High School Parking Lot (9525 Main St, Fairfax, VA 22031) REGISTER TODAY!

We look forward to celebrating a summer of learning and growth with you. For more details, please visit our Summer Extravaganza webpage.

Brookfield Teacher with Umbrella Gift

Ms. Alwood and her wonderful students enjoying recess! Her new Brookfield branded umbrella, a Staff Appreciation Week gift from the admin team, is a small token of our gratitude for our amazing staff.

Thank you, Maui the therapy dog

Showing kindness knows no bounds! A sweet 3rd grader thoughtfully asked if Maui the therapy dog would receive a Staff Appreciation umbrella. Today, he presented Maui with a special gift, recognizing all the comfort and support Maui brings to our Brookfield family. We saw lots of appreciative tail wags!
