3The price cap sets the maximum rates suppliers can charge standard variable tariff customers for their energy. The cap changes every three months as decided by Ofgem. The price cap increased by 6.4% from £1,738 to £1,849 on 1 April 2025, becoming the highest price cap since January 2024 (£1,928). 5As of 6 May 2025, the lowest level EDF is predicting the price cap to fall to is £1,692 from 1 October (weak prediction). The other three price caps from July 2025 (weak prediction) to 30 June 2026 (weakest prediction) are currently predicted to be higher than the cost of their EDF Simply Fixed May26 tariff.
